On Tuesday, the Latvian government adopted new rules stating that individuals who have lost their driver's licenses for driving under the influence must undergo a special behavior correction program. This decision comes from the Ministry of Transport, which developed the regulatory project to enhance road safety. According to the new rules, drivers who do not have serious dependencies will be required to complete a 16-hour course that includes both theoretical and practical sessions. The optimal number of participants in a group will be up to eight people. The course will be paid, with costs determined by service providers. The Ministry emphasizes the importance of this step as a measure aimed at changing driver behavior and increasing responsibility for their actions. The program is intended to alter the mindset of road users and will be necessary for the restoration of driver's licenses. Additionally, experts note that increasing empathy among drivers may reduce the number of traffic accidents, highlighting the importance of proper situational awareness on the road.
